The nuclear power plant refueling season has peaked and reactors are returning to service. The outage profile this spring has closely tracked 2013, but the recent two week period contained anomalies. The EIA week ended May 8th saw more outages than last year by a gas-equivalent of about 4 BCF, while the current week that will end on May 15th has seen a 2.25 BCF surplus. These are quantities that are large enough to meaningfully affect the EIA weekly natural gas storage report.
